About
METZ Cheesemonger is an independent cheese shop in the Sandsgate building at Sunny Bank Mills, the former worsted mill on Town Street, Farsley, with a shopfront visible from the road. It was opened in November 2024 by Emmanuelle Metz, who is from Paris and had spent more than a decade selling cheese in Yorkshire and France; Aurelie Charles is her fellow director.
The counter is stocked with handmade artisan cheese rather than mass-produced, with several varieties matured in-house — among them a stout-washed rind brie, which took the People's Choice award at the Academy of Cheese Affineur of the Year. It reports also winning Best Display Champion and gold awards for cheeseboard and grazing board at the Great Yorkshire Show, and it runs cheese nights with neighbouring Amity Brew Co.
